Nestlé recalls some infant formula products due to quality concerns

Nestlé Philippines is recalling limited batches of its infant formula products due to the detection of a possible quality issue.

In a statement issued Friday, Nestlé said the voluntary recall of certain Nan Optipro and Nankid Optipro products is being conducted in full cooperation with the Food and Drug Administration.

“While no illnesses have been confirmed in connection with the products involved to date, Nestlé Philippines has decided to voluntarily recall the affected batches out of an abundance of caution and in line with its strict product quality and safety protocols,” Nestlé said.

It pointed out that only a small number of batches in the Philippines were affected.

"All other Nestlé products, and other batches of the same products, are not in scope of this voluntary recall," the company said.

"Relevant distributors and retailers holding the identified batches have also been notified, and standard instructions have been issued to block and remove the identified batches from shelves," it added.

Consumers can check whether their product is part of the recall through this website.

If they have an affected batch, consumers were advised to discontinue use and contact Nestlé Philippines for assistance through its Facebook page.

Consumers may also reach out to Nestlé via email at consumer.services@ph.nestle.com or hotline +632-8898-0061.

“We understand this news may cause concern, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused,” Nestlé said.

“We are committed to transparency and are here to support every parent and caregiver throughout this process. The well-being of infants is at the heart of everything we do,” it added. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/KG, GMA Integrated News
