Megaworld earmarks P8B for third township in Negros Occidental
Listed developer Megaworld Corp. has earmarked P8 billion to develop a 97-hectare property in Talisay City to mark its third township development in Negros Occidental and its 37th across the country, banking in expected growth of the region.
Dubbed as “The Sugartown,” the township will be located along the Bacolod-Silay Airport Road, adding to the company’s portfolio that includes the 53-hectare Northill Gateway at the boundary of Bacolod and Talisay cities, and the 34-hectare The Upper East in eastern Bacolod.
“With the Negros Island Region already in place, the future of this province is bright and we have seen the rise of mixed-use developments not just in the capital but also in other towns and cities,” Kevin Tan, president and chief executive officer of Megaworld’s parent company Alliance Global Group Inc., said.
“Through this new township, our seventh in the Visayas, we are excited how we can further contribute to regional progress especially in tourism,” he added.
The Sugartown will host premium residential developments by Megaworld and its wholly-owned subsidiary Suntrust Properties Inc., along with commercial and retail developments. It will also have its own town center, commercial district, and unique tourism facilities.
Megaworld said it has allocated P8 billion to develop the township in the next seven to 10 years.
