Abu Dhabi-based G42 eyes data center in PH, DICT's Aguda says

Department of Information and Communications Technology Secretary Henry Aguda said tech firm G42, which is based in Abu Dhabi, is eyeing to establish a data center in the Philippines.

''Noong patapos na po kami sa Abu Dhabi may nagpahabol pa po na isa pang data center, G42, taga-UAE rin po, sila nagbabalak na magtayo rin ng another data center,'' Aguda said in a Palace press briefing.

(When we were about to be finished in Abu Dhabi, G42 also expressed intention to establish a data center.)

''Marami pa silang kailangang gawin, they have to come to the Philippines, check the availability of land, ang data center kasi kailangan mo rin ng power, kailangan mo ng water, iyong connectivity, medyo ano na sila, sold na sila, wala tayong problema, marami kayong international subsea cable na papunta sa Pilipinas, north-south, northeast, southwest lahat marami eh,'' he added.

(They have a lot of things to do, they have to come to the Philippines, check the availability of land because the data center needs power, water, connectivity... we don't have any problem because they have an international subsea cable going to the Philippines.)

Aguda was part of the delegation during President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr.'s working visit to the United Arab Emirates.

During his visit, Marcos also met with top officials of DAMAC Digital to explore planned investments in the Philippines, including a potential data center in Laguna.

Operating globally — G42 harnesses artificial intelligence as a positive force, one  that empowers people, strengthens industries, and shapes a more resilient future.

''We never stop asking what’s next. From reimagining healthcare to advancing space exploration, we combine bold ideas with deep expertise to solve the world’s toughest challenges,'' G42 said on its website —VAL, GMA Integrated News
