Beep removes stored value updaters, express renewal devices from train stations

Beep removes stored value updaters, express renewal devices from train stations

The operator of the beep card system on Friday announced the removal of all Beep Stored Value Updaters (SVUs) and Express Renewal Devices (ERDs) from rail stations due to their reliance on outdated 3G technology.

In a public notice, Beep said the affected machines are no longer operational as telecommunications providers have phased out 3G services. Due to this, the system needs an upgrade.

“Passengers can conveniently use the beep mobile app to check their card balance and instantly retrieve load transactions by tapping their beep card on an NFC-enabled smartphone,” beep said.

“Alternatively, Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) and Point of Sale (POS) Tellers in all Stations remain available for all transactions,” it added.

For further inquiries or assistance, passengers may contact the beep™ Customer Service Hotline at (02) 8737-9600, available daily from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

They may also send an email to customer.info@afpayments.com, according to beep. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
