BDO raises P100 billion from latest ASEAN Sustainability Bonds

Sy-led lender BDO Unibank Inc. on Monday said it raised P100 billion from its fifth ASEAN Sustainability Bond offering, after demand reached 20 times the initial P5-billion issue size.

With the latest issuance, BDO has raised an aggregate P386.7 billion from the five sustainability bonds since January 2022.

“This issuance saw robust participation from retail and institutional investors, prompting the early close of the offer period on 16 January 2026,” BDO said.

The bond came with a three-year tenor and a coupon rate of 5.7125% per annum, with net proceeds intended to finance the bank’s lending activities and to diversify funding sources. It will also finance and/or refinance eligible assets.

BDO tapped Standard Chartered Bank as the sole arranger of the issuance, with BDO Unibank and Standard Chartered as selling agents, and BDO Capital & Investment Corp. as financial advisor.

Shares in BDO closed Monday at P138.20 apiece, up by 20 centavos or 0.14% from last Friday’s finish of P138.00. — BM, GMA Integrated News
