BIR launches new service to cater to 6,000 registered businesses
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) on Wednesday announced it has launched a new service initiative aimed at improving ease of doing business and taxpayer assistance for registered enterprises in the country.
In a news release, the BIR said it formally launched the Registered Business Enterprise Taxpayer Service (RBETS) on January 27, 2026 in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
The establishment of RBETS was pursuant under the Corporate Recovery and Tax Incentives for Enterprises to Maximize Opportunities for Reinvigorating the Economy or CREATE MORE Act.
RBETS provides dedicated service counters and trained personnel in the BIR’s Revenue District Offices and the Large Taxpayers Service to assist Registered Business Enterprises (RBEs).
As of end-2024, there are 5,907 registered business enterprises operating nationwide under various investment promotion agencies, according to the BIR.
The taxman said RBETS is designed to help ensure these enterprises receive accurate, consistent, and compliance-supporting assistance, while strengthening coordination and oversight within the tax system.
BIR Commissioner Charlito Martin Mendoza said the initiative reflects the bureau’s commitment to act immediately and deliver improvements in taxpayer service.
“RBETS is about turning what is written in the law into real, everyday service. Rather than wait for the full establishment of a new service, we chose to move forward—train our people, put interim structures in place, and deliver better service now,” Mendoza said.
In his keynote address during the launch, Finance Secretary Frederick Go said, “I commend the BIR—especially Commissioner Charlie, and our partner IPAs for translating legislative intent into operational reform.”
For her part, Trade Secretary Maria Cristina Roque said, “When we streamline compliance, we build trust.”
“That trust attracts capital, creates jobs, and fuels the dreams of the Filipino people,” Roque said. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
