Maharlika names Kheed Nielsen Ng as chief investment and operating officer
Philippine sovereign wealth fund manager Maharlika Investment Corp. (MIC) on Monday announced the appointment of Kheed Nielsen Ng as its chief investment and operating officer (CIOO), serving as the agency’s lead on investment strategy and portfolio management.
Prior to his appointment, Ng — whose appointment was confirmed by the MIC Board on February 12 — held senior investment roles at Canada Pension Plan Investments (CPPIB) and Morningside Capital, where he led sourcing and execution efforts, and served as a board observer.
He evaluated investments across industries and oversaw the deployment of approximately $2 billion in capital, bringing with his international experience in investment banking, private equity, and public markets.
“With a proven track record of managing and scaling wealth on a global stage, Mr. Ng possesses the strategic foresight and technical depth essential to driving MIC’s investment mandate forward,” MIC president and chief executive officer Rafael Consing said in a statement.
“As MIC increases its investment activity, ensuring clear leadership, accountability, and authority within the investment function is critical to delivering on MIC’s mandate and meeting stakeholder expectations,” he added.
The Philippines’ first sovereign wealth fund was signed into law in July 2023 through Republic Act No. 11954, establishing the Maharlika Investment Corporation (MIC)—the state-run entity tasked with managing the fund and investing government assets to generate additional public revenue. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
