SM Prime to open Cebu Arena in June 2026
Sy-led property developer SM Prime Holdings Inc. is set to open SM Seaside Cebu Arena — its multipurpose indoor arena with a higher seating capacity than that located in the Mall of Asia (MOA) complex in Pasay — in June 2026.
Located within the South Coast City development, SM Seaside Cebu Arena has a building footprint of about 1.6 hectares and a total gross floor area of roughly 7.4 hectares. It will be able to accommodate 25,000 guests with multi-level spectator areas, higher than the 20,000 in MOA Arena.
It will also have a seating capacity of 16,000 versus the 15,000 of MOA Arena, and will also have professional-grade sports and entertainment systems, corporate suites, VIP lounges, food and beverage concepts, and other lifesyle amenities.
It will also be linked to the SMX Convention Center Cebu and SM Seaside City Cebu through a Skybridge.
“By building a venue of this scale in Cebu, we are strengthening the Visayas as a destination for international events, domestic tourism, and long-term investment,” SM Prime president Jeffrey Lim said.
According to Lim, a local band is set to be the first performer of the SM Seaside Cebu Arena, with talks ongoing with a global artist for the grand launch.
“There is a lot of excitement and anticipation for this project because Cebuanos have long supported live concerts, and having a large-capacity venue in Cebu makes these events more accessible without the added cost of traveling to Manila,” he said.
SM Prime has set a P100-billion spending program for 2026, as it seeks to sustain the growth of its retail and commercial segments moving forward. —AOL,GMA Integrated News
