Emirates to operate over 100 Dubai flights after airspace partially reopens
Emirates on Friday confirmed it has started operating Dubai flights, although on a reduced schedule until further notice, following the partial reopening of airspace in the United Arab Emirates amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
In an advisory, Emirates said it will operate over 100 flights to and from Dubai on March 5 and 6 to cater to passengers and essential cargo, such as perishables and pharmaceuticals.
"Emirates will continue to gradually build back its flying schedule, subject to airspace availability and all operational requirements being met," the advisory read.
"Safety is always our top priority. We continue to monitor the situation and adapt our operations accordingly," it added.
The carrier noted, however, that passengers should only proceed to the airport if they have a confirmed booking.
Over 110 flights to and from the Philippines have been either canceled or diverted due to the escalating conflict in the Middle East.
Tensions in the Middle East heightened over the weekend, as US-Israeli airstrikes killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The death was later confirmed by Iranian state media.
Trump earlier on Monday (Sunday Washington time) said combat operations in Iran would continue until all objectives are achieved, as he confirmed that three US service members were killed and that there would likely be more casualties. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
