DMCI Homes to build flood control structures around Acacia Estates in Taguig
Consunji-led DMCI Homes has partnered with the city government of Taguig to implement flood mitigation measures for low-lying communities surrounding its Acacia Estates township development.
In a news release on Thursday, DMCI Homes said a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the Acacia Estates Interceptor Canal Project was signed by its president Alfredo Austria and construction survey manager Elizabeth Balmonte as well as Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano and Taguig City Administrator Jose Luis Montales on Wednesday.
The project involves constructing an interceptor canal, a major drainage system designed to improve flood management and reduce water buildup in vulnerable communities.
DMCI Homes said the canal will serve six barangays surrounding Acacia Estates: Ususan, Bambang, Hagonoy, Katuparan, San Miguel, and Wawa.
Stormwater from Barangays Ususan, Bambang, and Wawa will be directed toward the Taguig River, while runoff from Barangays Katuparan, Hagonoy, and San Miguel will flow into the Hagonoy River, according to the property developer.
The Consunji-led company said the proposed drainage system is expected to significantly reduce flooding across these areas.
DMCI Homes added that the project also includes developing a temporary stormwater retention facility to manage excess water during periods of heavy rainfall. — Ted Cordero/BM, GMA Integrated News
