MORE Power integrating AI in distribution system
Razon-led MORE Electric and Power Corp., the sole electric distribution utility in Iloilo City, is integrating artificial intelligence in its power distribution system as part of its initiative to modernize its services and meet rising demand in its franchise area.
In a news release on Thursday, MORE Power said it is deploying AI and advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) into its operations to improve outage response, strengthen grid monitoring and give consumers more control over their electricity consumption.
Under its AI integration initiative, the company said AI-powered analytics will allow the company to detect technical issues earlier, identify faults across the network, and respond faster to serve disruptions.
MORE Power said the technology enables remote reconnection capabilities and improved data visibility for both engineers and frontline personnel.
Last week, the House of Representatives approved on third and final reading a proposed measure that will expand the company's franchise area.
If enacted into law, the measure will allow MORE Power to expand its distribution network to the municipalities of Igbaras, Tubungan, Oton, Tigbauan, Guimbal, Miag-ao, and San Joaquin.
The company said it is upgrading its control centers and implementing smart grid solutions to enhance its operational efficiency.
The use of real-time monitoring systems will allow the company to detect outages faster and restore service with minimal disruption to consumers, it said.
Moreover, the power distributor said the push for smart metering will give consumers real-time insights into their energy consumption, allowing them to make more informed decisions about their electricity use, thus saving energy and costs.
“Through the introduction of AI and AMI, we can offer quicker responses to customer concerns, provide more transparency in energy use, and help our consumers manage their power more efficiently,” said MORE Power president and CEO Roel Castro.
