Budget carrier Cebu Pacific on Sunday announced that it has secured sufficient jet fuel for its scheduled domestic and international flights until June of this year.

“The airline has secured sufficient jet fuel to support all scheduled domestic and international flights until June 2026. CEB is working closely with suppliers and industry partners to ensure continued fuel availability in the months ahead and will continue to take proactive measures to maintain stable and sustainable operations,” the airline said in a statement.

Cebu Pacific’s statement came amid the volatile situation of oil prices brought by the ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. earlier said grounding aircraft due to a shortage of jet fuel brought by the ongoing war in the Middle East is a "distinct possibility.”

Marcos added that planes flown by Philippine airlines are being forced to carry enough fuel for a round trip because multiple countries have notified them that refueling services are currently unavailable for their planes.

The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) earlier adjusted the fuel surcharge level for domestic and international flights amid the oil price shock arising from the Middle East conflict.

For the initial implementation of the shortened period of adjustment, the CAB said the passenger and cargo fuel surcharge for domestic and international flights will be set at Level 8 for the period April 1 to 15, 2026, up from the current Level 4. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
