AirAsia Philippines: Enough jet fuel secured to ensure uninterrupted flights
Budget carrier AirAsia Philippines on Tuesday said it has secured enough supply of jet fuel to ensure unhampered flight operations.
“AirAsia Philippines confirms that it has secured adequate jet fuel supply to support operational continuity,” it said in a statement.
The airline said it continues to strengthen its sourcing planning and strategies, leveraging its regional network and group resources to ensure operational stability as it acknowledged ongoing fuel demand pressures.
“AirAsia continues to work closely with fuel suppliers, industry partners, and relevant government stakeholders to minimize disruptions and provide seamless travel for its guests,” it said.
AirAsia Philippines issued the statement amid the ongoing fuel crisis due to limitations in passing through the Strait of Hormuz, a key critical corridor where a fifth of the world’s oil supply passes through, due to the US-Israel war with Iran.
Flag carrier Philippine Airlines and budget carrier Cebu Pacific both said earlier they had secured enough jet fuel to sustain their operations.
The assurances came after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said grounding aircraft due to a shortage of jet fuel brought by the ongoing war in the Middle East was a "distinct possibility.” —VBL, GMA News
