Grab Unveils P350M Bonuses, Incentives Package Amid Ongoing Fuel Crisis

Ride-hailing firm Grab Philippines on Monday committed P350 million for bonuses, fare incentives, commission rebates, and fuel subsidies for its driver and delivery riders as part of its Grab Bayanihan Fuel Crisis Support Program.According to Grab, the P350-million program includes rebates that will distributed through Grab Turbo, bringing down the company’s commission to 15%.  It also includes over P50 million in delivery rider bonuses and subsidies for delivery partners who wish to transition to bike-based deliveries.“When fuel prices rise, livelihoods are the first to feel it, and platforms like ours carry a responsibility to respond with the scale and speed that the moment requires,” Grab Philippines managing director Ronald Roda said in a statement.“The P350 million we have mobilized is resilience, designed to keep our driver- and delivery-partners on the road and their families steady through the crisis. This is what a platform is for, and it is the role Grab intends to keep playing as the country navigates the fuel crisis,” he added. The Philippines, a net importer of fuel, has been impacted by the conflict in the Middle East, prompting President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to declare a state of national energy emergency in March.https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/topstories/nation/981224/president-marcos-energy-emergency/story/Grab said it has also partnered with fuel companies for pump discounts for both four-wheel and two-wheel partners, with partners claiming over P2 million in fuel savings under Seaoil, and some P1 million in rebates through the Shell Fleet Cards.“The Grab Bayanihan Fuel Crisis Support Program will remain in place, with Grab continuing to assess and refine its initiatives in response to fuel price movements and the evolving needs of driver- and delivery-partners,” it said.Grab has also partnered with BDO Unibank, the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), automakers Toyota Philippines, BYD, and GAC, and automotive distributors Autohub Group and QSJ Motors Philippines to give transport network vehicle service (TNVS) drivers fast-tracked access to electric and hybrid vehicles through preferential “green” auto loans. –NB, GMA Integrated News
