Bill seeks to double annual paid service incentive leave of workers to 10 days
A lawmaker is pushing to increase the minimum annual paid service incentive leave benefits of employees, citing the need to reduce stress and improve productivity, according to a report on GMA News’ Unang Balita on Wednesday.
Under House Bill No. 6602 filed by Parañaque City 2nd District Representative Brian Yamsuan, the current five-day service incentive leave (SIL) with pay would be expanded to 10 days for employees who have rendered at least one year of service in a company.
Yamsuan said the proposed measure aims to help address employee stress and burnout, which could in turn boost worker productivity.
The bill seeks to amend existing labor provisions by increasing the minimum leave benefit granted to qualified private-sector employees.
The Department of Labor and Employment has yet to issue a statement on the proposal. —Joviland Rita/KG, GMA News
