Customs collects P99.508M from public auctions of seized items

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has so far collected nearly a hundred million pesos from public sale of seized goods as of the first four months of 2026.

In a news release on Wednesday, the BOC said it booked P99.508 million in revenues from public auctions, highlighting sustained efforts to maximize the value of forfeited goods and contribute to the agency’s revenues.

Of the amount, P25,548,050 million was raised from the public auction of seized Rolls-Royce Phantom (2023) on April 28, 2026 conducted by the Auction and Cargo Disposal Division (ACDD) of the Port of Manila.

“The activity was conducted in accordance with established rules and procedures, ensuring an open, fair, and competitive process in the disposal of seized and forfeited goods,” the Customs said.

Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno emphasized the significance of transparent and lawful disposal mechanisms in maximizing government resources and strengthening public trust, noting that public auction initiatives “ensure forfeited goods are disposed of in a manner that is both transparent and beneficial to the public, while upholding accountability and contributing meaningfully to national development.”

The BOC called on the public to participate in future auctions and to regularly check the agency’s official website and communication platforms for announcements and schedules of upcoming public auction activities. —AOL, GMA News
