Gov’t workers to start receiving mid-year bonus on May 15, 2026

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) on Friday announced that qualified government employees, including military and uniformed personnel, shall begin receiving their mid-year bonuses starting May 15, 2026.

In a statement, the DBM said a total of P73.456 billion has been allocated for 2026 mid-year bonus of over 1.9 million civilian, military, and uniformed personnel across national government agencies.

The mid-year bonus, equivalent to one month's basic pay as of May 15, shall be granted to personnel who meet the following conditions under Budget Circular No. 2017-2:

• Have rendered at least an aggregate of four months of service from July 1 of the immediately preceding year to May 15 of the current year

• Remain in government service as of May 15 of the current year

• Have obtained at least a satisfactory performance rating in the immediately preceding rating period or applicable performance appraisal period

The Budget Department noted that the required service period includes actual services rendered while occupying regular, contractual, or casual positions in the national and local government, including leaves of absence with pay.

Moreover, the DBM said that the grant of the mid-year bonus also extends to local government units (LGUs).

However, it said that the release of the bonus to qualified personnel in provinces, cities, municipalities, and barangays shall be subject to the approval of their respective sanggunian and the conditions provided under DBM Budget Circular No. 2017-2.

For his part, Budget Secretary Rolando Toledo said that the timely release of the mid-year bonus reflects the administration’s recognition of the hard work, sacrifice, and dedication of government workers nationwide.

Toledo added that the funds for the mid-year bonus had already been comprehensively released at the start of the fiscal year to ensure the timely provision of benefits. —VAL, GMA News
