Motorists will have to pay more for petroleum products this week, as fuel retailers on Monday announced another round of pump price hikes to mark the fifth straight week of increases for gasoline, and the second for diesel.

According to the Department of Energy (DOE), retailers will hike prices per liter of gasoline by P1.60, diesel by P1.96, and kerosene by P1.45.

The adjustments will take effect on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

An industry source earlier projected pump price hikes of over P1 per liter this week, as global markets continue to remain tight with supplies from Asia possibly moving to other regions amid the reduced production in Europe.\

Firms last week hiked prices per liter of gasoline by P1.21 and diesel by P2.82, while rolling back those of kerosene by P2.11.

This brought the year-to-date adjustments to a net increase of P48.12 per liter for gasoline, P44.84 per liter for diesel, and P39.05 per liter for kerosene.

According to the DOE, the country has a total fuel inventory equivalent to 44.82 days, lower than the 45.33 days’ worth of supply recorded the past week.

Broken down, the supply of gasoline is projected to last 45.87 days, diesel for 41.07 days, kerosene for 138.93 days, jet fuel for 66.41 days, fuel oil for 47.17 days, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for 41.49 days. —RF, GMA News
