Three new directors elected to PSE Board
Local bourse operator Philippine Stock Exchange Inc. (PSE) has announced that three new directors are joining its governing board.
In a news release, the PSE said two new independent directors, namely Jikyeong Kang and Niek Johan van Veen, and one new regular director, Lorenzo Andres Roxas, were elected to the Board of Directors during its annual stockholders’ meeting on Saturday, July 4.
Kang has served as president and dean of the Asian Institute of Management since 2015. She is an independent director at Kesoram Industries, a part of the B.K. Birla Group in India. She is also an officer in various international academic organizations such as the European Foundation for Management Development for Asia and the Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools, where she is a board member and vice president and president, respectively.
Van Veen has over 20 years of experience in technology, data, and telecommunications across Southeast Asia and Europe. He has been vice president of commercial & AI consulting at Thinking Machines Data Science since 2017, where he advises executive committees of leading Southeast Asian enterprises on AI use-case roadmaps, prioritization, and alignment of business strategy with AI.
Roxas is the managing director and nominee of Philippine Equity Partners, Inc. He also concurrently sits as director in RCBC Bankard Service Corporation, Vivant Energy Corporation, ATRAM Trust Corporation, ATR Asset Management, Inc., and ATRAM Investment Management Partners Corporation and is a member of the advisory board of PhilExcel Corporation.
“The newly elected board features a diverse group of industry leaders, bringing extensive experience in capital markets, corporate governance, and technology. The Board’s collective expertise will be instrumental as we accelerate our strategic initiatives and implement reforms, which ultimately enhances shareholder value,” said PSE Chairman Jose Pardo.
Pardo was re-elected to the PSE Board as chairman and director representing other market participants, while Ramon Monzon was re-elected as president and CEO.
The PSE said its shareholders also gave a fresh mandate to three independent directors, namely retired Chief Justice Teresita Leonardo De Castro, Jaime Bautista, and Peter Favila.
Diosdado Arroyo, Eddie Gobing, Anthony Te, and Ma. Vivian Yuchengco were re-elected as regular directors.
Also re-elected were Cecile Ang and Jose Arnulfo Veloso as directors representing investors, and Atty. Marilyn Victorio-Aquino as director representing issuers.
The 15-member PSE Board is composed of one president-director, five regular directors, and nine non-broker directors.
Of the nine non-broker directors, at least five are independent directors and at least four are directors representing the interests of issuers, investors, and other market participants. —VBL, GMA News
