Luzon International Premiere Airport Development (LIPAD), the private operator of Clark International Airport, has revised its passenger traffic volume target for 2026, taking into account the global fuel price volatility resulting from the Middle East war

At a press briefing in Makati City on Tuesday, LIPAD president and CEO Noel Manankil disclosed that new flight destinations originating from Clark set for launching in the first half were pushed back toward the end of year due to the global fuel crisis.

With this, Manankil said LIPAD revised its target passenger traffic to 3.1 million for this year from its original goal of 3.3 million passengers.

Nonetheless, the LIPAD chief said, “We are still looking for some growth in 2026 compared to 2025.”

In January to June 2026, LIPAD saw a 6% year-on-year growth in system-wide passenger traffic to 1,638,318.

Broken down, domestic passengers passing through Clark International Airport grew by 24% to 758,328.

Manankil said about 50% of the domestic traffic was because of the transfer of turboprop flights from Ninoy Aquino International Airport to Clark.

International passenger traffic, meanwhile, declined by 5% year-on-year to 879,990.

Total flights movement during the period grew 27% to 14,987 with domestic flights accounting for 9,895, up 62%; while international flights stood at 5,092, down 10%. —RF, GMA News
