Lufthansa Technik PH begins construction of 2nd aircraft maintenance base in Clark

Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP), the joint venture between Lufthansa Technik and MacroAsia Corporation, on Thursday broke ground on its new aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) hub at the at Clark International Airport.

At the sidelines of the groundbreaking event, LTP president Holger Beck told reporters the company pegs its investment for its Clark MRO hub at “a three-digit million-dollar” or “anywhere between $100 million to $999 million.”

The company’s second MRO hub will rise on a 157,000-square-meter site, complementing the company’s long-standing presence in Manila—around 100 kilometers away from Clark.

As Lufthansa Technik’s competence center for widebody aircraft within its worldwide network, LTP specializes in the MRO of Airbus A330, A340 and A380 as well as Boeing 777 aircraft.

With the additional facility in Clark, the company intends to add the Airbus A350 and the Boeing 787 to its portfolio.

The Clark hub is set to begin operations in 2028 and expected to create around 1,200 highly skilled jobs.

Beck added that the “investment is about much more than a new facility,” but “a commitment to the next 25 years, and hopefully, many more.”
