Fuel price hike set on Tuesday, August 25

Motorists will see another week of pump price increases on fuel products starting Tuesday, August 25, the Department of Energy (DOE) said.

The DOE said gasoline prices will be up by P1.08 per liter across all grades—RON 91 (regular unleaded), RON 95 (premium unleaded), and RON 97 (high-octane unleaded).

Diesel prices, including Diesel Plus, will increase by P2.31 per liter.

Kerosene, on the other hand, will see P0.95 increase per liter.

The price hike is effective until August 31.

Diesel: + P2.30 per liter

But the DOE assured that price increases do not mean a shortage of fuel supply.

"What we are seeing is pressure on prices and not a shortage of supply. We continue to work with industry to monitor supply levels and address potential risks early," said Energy Secretary Sharon Garin in a press briefing.

The government earlier raised the fuel discount for public utility vehicle operators and drivers from P10 per liter to P12 per liter starting August 15.

The DOE said the fuel subsidy will be extended until September.

"Ang assessment natin ay per monthly basis, kung itutuloy o ihihinto 'yung fuel subsidy. Good news, for September there is now a decision na tuloy-tuloy ang fuel subsidy program," said DOE Oil Industry Management Bureau Director Rino Abad.
