Acer brand leads Philippine PC market

MANILA, Philippines - The product line of Acer (Phils.), Inc. leads the Philippine personal computer market, a study by an international market intelligence group showed. In its first quarter Asia-Pacific Quarterly PC Tracker Summary, research firm IDC named the Acer brand as the leading choice of Filipinos when purchasing desktops and laptops. "We still continue to lead the market overall for the past several quarters and this we attribute to our continued resolve to come up with significant and consumer-friendly products," said Acer Philippines General Manager Manuel Wong. Acer led the consumer desktop segment with an 11.9 percent market share with sales reaching 6,911 units worth P6.3 million in the first quarter. In the same period, Acer also led the notebook segment as it cornered 29 percent of the commercial laptop market with sales amounting to 8,539 units with a total value of P11.3 million. Wong said Acer is banking on the introduction of a new sub-notebook category and a new laptop model to keep the brand the top Filipino choice for personal computers. "We will continue to capture the Filipinos' attention, and still they can be assured of top-quality and innovative products and consumer-focused service from us," Wong added. - GMANews.TV
