Rain leaks in BDO's data center causes service interruptions

BDO Unibank Inc. on Thursday reported that the drain pipe in its Makati building was recently damaged by heavy rains which caused a leak in the data center and other floors, compelling the bank to bring down its main switch and transfer to a disaster recovery site as a precautionary measure.

As a result of the migration, the processing of transactions in BDO branches may have slowed down, the bank said in an emailed advisory. It also said that the slowdown is just temporary as the bank gradually reactivated its servers.

"We apologize to our valued clients and the general public for the service interruption they may have been experiencing in our Automated Teller Machines, retail and corporate banking, mobile and phone banking, and ATM debit cards and cash cards," BDO said.

"We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete this endeavor as soon as possible," BDO added.

Last Friday, BDO previously advised that its banking services would be temporarily unavailable on August 25 and 26 for maintenance and upgrade activities. It was also out of service last August 3 for the same reasons. – Trisha Macas/VS, GMA News
