Henry Sy leads Pinoys on Forbes’ Top 1000 billionaires list

At least 10 Filipinos made it to the Forbes magazine list of the world's Top 1,000 billionaires, while a former Filipino senator almost made it through.
 
Forbes magazine's Real Time list showed Henry Sy, 90, patriarch of the SM conglomerate, at No. 73.

Sy has a net worth of $14.1 billion, according to the magazine.
 
The second Filipino on the list is John Gokongwei Jr., 87, who also has diversified business interests and is worth $5.9 billion to rank 244th on the overall list.
 
Third is ports magnate Enrique Razon Jr., 54, with a net worth of $5.1 billion, with an overall ranking of 296.
 
Fourth is Andrew Tan, 62, with a net worth of $4.8 billion, ranking 326th; while Lucio Tan, 80, is fifth with a net worth of $4.4 billion to land on the 369th spot.
 
Rounding up the Top 10 Filipino billionaires are:
 
  • George Ty, 82 – banking – worth $4.4 billion, No. 370 on the Forbes list
  • David Consunji, 93 – construction– $4.1 billion, No. 412 
  • Tony Tan Caktiong, 62 – fast food – No. 711
  • Lucio and Susan Co, 60, retail trade, No. 821
  • Robert Coyiuto Jr., 62 – power – $1.9 billion, No. 985.
 
Former Senate President Manuel Villar Jr., 65, whose core business is real estate development, ranked 1,190th on the list. — Joel Locsin/RSJ/VS, GMA News
