Oil, gas industry junior workers best paid – JobStreet

The oil and gas industry pays the highest salaries, even to its junior executives with only a year to four years of experience, employment search site JobStreet.com said in its website. Oil and gas engineers are paid P40,878, followed by aircraft maintenance crew at P33,564, information technology professionals at P32,873, instrumentation engineers at P25,650, and technical support representatives at P25,634 JobStreet, in its statement, said the compensation given junior oil and gas engineers with 1-4 years of experience is at a rate given to some managers in other industries." Journalists are also some of the best paid as junior reporters, with an average pay of P25,650, surpass those working for public relations firms at P25,078. Chemical engineers are eighth on the list with an average P25,008 salary, executive assistants at P24,961, and quantity surveyors at P24,841. "Most specializations in the list of Top 10 Highest Paying Jobs for employees with 1-4 years of experience are in the technical field such as IT, Aircraft Maintenance, and Chemical Engineering," JobStreet noted. The average salary is based on the actual salaries posted by the employers on the JobStreet website from January 1 to March 31, 2013. Fresh graduates Meanwhile, the best paying jobs for fresh graduates can be found in the legal services field, as it offers the highest salary for newbies at P23,348. Corporate strategists come next at P20,962, followed by personal assistants at P20,946, teachers at P20,776, realtors at P20,592, and customer service staff at P19,769. Performance artists also managed to place in the list with at P19,766, followed by aircraft maintenance crew at P19,518, publishing staff at P19,180, and auditors at P19,062. "Fresh graduates earn an average of P16,524," JobStreet said. "Take note that these are just the basic salaries posted, and do not include other forms of compensation such as leave credits, medical benefits, insurance, and incentives," the website noted. 5 years and up IT professionals receive the highest pay, pegged at P55,701, among those with five or more years of experience, JobStreet said. "IT Analysts are among the highest paid supervisors. Software Analysts can get paid as much as P90,000, Database Administrators can earn up to P58,000, while Hardware IT could get up to P56,000," JobStreet said. Engineers come next at P42,548, followed by database administrators at P37,985, technical support at P35,999, actuarial scientists at P35,320, and microbiologists at P32,999. Well-experienced accountants meanwhile get paid P32,725, well-trained professionals for legal services at P32,312, advertising at P31, 809, and PR firms at P30,740. JobStreet noted too that electronics and communications engineers, as well as health and safety engineers, make an average of P57,000 a month. "But some employers will pay over P60,000 for these positions, making them the highest paid in the Engineering field. Oil and Gas Engineers receive around an average of P46,000," the website said. Managerial jobs At the managerial level, technical supports get paid a whooping P115,000 a month, followed by quality assurance managers at P107,205, quantity surveyors at P95,859, oil and gas engineers at P86,416, and top managers at P81,348. Meanwhile, aircraft maintenance managers receive P79,041, those at legal services receive P78,819, communications at P72,446, IT at P67,509, and nurses at P66,614. "Managers in the technical industry earn above industry standards," JobStreet said. "Media planners also do well, with a monthly basic income of P50,859," it added. Senior managers in technical support get paid P115,000 a month, followed by quality assurance managers at P107,205, quantity surveyors at P95,859, oil and gas engineers at P86,416, and top managers at P81,348. Meanwhile, aircraft maintenance managers receive P79,041, those at legal services receive P78,819, communications at P72,446, IT at P24,961 and nurses at P66,614. Career Still, those looking for a job should look for a career they would love and not for the salary, JobStreet senior marketing manager Carolyn Enriquez said in the report. "Choose not just a job but a career. Kasi kung napili natin ang career na mas magiging masaya tayo, mas magiging effective tayo, mas magiging successful tayo sa career na 'yun," she said. She urged the professionals to also avoid jumping from one job to another as it would not look in their resume. "Sana hindi siya gawing practice.
