Globe, Puregold partnership to support SMEs and sar-sari stores

Globe Telecom Inc. is supporting the neighborhood sari-sari store and small and medium enterprises (SME) by offering a loan program through BanKO, the first mobile phone-based savings bank that focuses on microfinance.

In an e-mailed statement Thursday, Globe said it is introducing the service through the annual Aling Puring Convention that started Wednesday at the World Trade Center. The convention is organized by supermarket chain Puregold for members of Aling Puring – an association of sari-sari store owners, carinderia operators, food resellers, and bulk buyers.

The service gives Aling Puring members the opportunity to make cashless purchases during the convention using Globe's GCASH during the convention.

“This year, Globe comes to the Aling Puring Convention with our innovative product portfolio... to help members grow their businesses further," said Bernie Llamzon, Globe Telecom EVP for Consumer Sales.

"With our participation in the annual convention, we celebrate the success of Aling Puring members and empower them even more with solutions that matter for a wonderful and productive enterprise in the coming years ahead,” Llamzon added.

Last February, GCASH partnered with Puregold to set up GCASH outlets in all 200 Puregold branches nationwide that offer international and domestic remittances, bills payments, point-of-sales payments, and cash in/cash out. – Janelle Cosino/VS, GMA News
