A modest relief is expected in Manila's ports with the scheduled transfer of 3,000 container vans to the Subic port, GMA News' "24 Oras" reported on Wednesday.

The port operators have hired a ship that will transfer the containers. It reportedly cost them some P14 million.

The vessel arrived on Wednesday morning.

"It docked at the ICTSI berth this morning and this vessel will be here for 15 days. Ang trabaho lang pon nito ay mag-haul ng overstaying containers," Philippine Ports Authority General Manager Juan Sta. Ana said.

There are now 70,000 containers in the ports, causing congestion in the area.

"[Ang 3,000 containers] yung may problema sa customs. either seized or overstaying containers," Sta. Ana said. —NB, GMA News
