The oversupply of chicken in the country should bring down the price of dressed chicken to P125 per kilogram, according to Department of Agriculture Undersecretary Jose Reano.
However, dressed chicken is still selling at P140 per kilogram in Mega Q Mart in Quezon City, and choice cuts for P150 per kilogram and galantina or those with head and feet for P135 per kilogram.
The farm gate price is at P72 to P74 per kilogram in Northern Luzon and P75 to P78 in Southern Luzon, Rizal and Quezon, GMA News' 24 Oras reported on Tuesday.
Michelle Miranda, a vendor in Mega Q Mart, said vendors will not be able to decrease chicken prices to P125 since they buy their chickens at a high price from suppliers.
"Depende sa mga nag-supply, hindi pare-pareho supplier na nagbibigay," she said. — Kathryn Mae TUbadeza/ELR, GMA News
