TESDA goes green with new training center
The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has unveiled a new training center in partnership with the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc., (FFCCCI) that will serve as a hub for honing skills in "green" industries.
The TESDA Green Technology Center (GTC) will offer technical, vocational education courses that will train workers in skills needed for emerging green areas such as hydroponics, photovoltaics, vertical gardening, landscaping, inverter technology and e-trike servicing.
"It will be a campus of ideas and resources geared towards environmental innovation and stewardship," said TESDA Director General Joel Villanueva.
A model in green technology itself, the center will have vertical garden and landscaping, and showcase the implementation of a waste segregation system, the use of natural light and ventilation, the use of solar panels and lighting and the conservation of water and power.
The two-storey, 2,603-square meter building is situated at the TESDA Complex in Taguig City. — BM, GMA News
