APEC Summit 2015 unfolding

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting officially commenced on Wednesday, capping a year's worth of hosting for the Philippines, a founding member of the 21-economy bloc.

The first day of a two-day conference was kicked off by the APEC CEO Summit at the Shangri-la Makati, where US President Barack Obama delivered a talk and moderated a conversation with Chinese e-commerce tycoon Jack Ma and Filipina Aisa Mijeno, CEO of environmental tech start-up SALt or Sustainable Alternative Lighting.

As the morning unfolded, China President Xi Jinping delivered his keynote speech at Summit Dialogue and Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev was in the spotlight in a Summit Conversation.

The APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting opened in the early afternoon at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC). The various heads of state held separate discussions on small and medium enterprises, infrastructure finance, sustainable development, and the main theme of this year's summit: inclusive growth.
