The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) is issuing new the P100 bills with a stronger mauve or violet color starting Monday, February 1, 2016, to make it more distinct from the P1,000 bills.

"This is in response to suggestions from the public to make it easier to distinguish from the 1000-Piso banknote," the central bank said Friday.

Apart from the change in color on both sides of the banknotes, all the other features of the P100 bills will remain the same.

The central bank said the current P100 banknotes can still be used for daily transactions for payment of goods and services even after the new bills have been placed in circulation.

Only the old banknote series (New Design Series, NDS), launched in 1985, will no longer be acceptable in daily transactions.
