PHL Dev't Forum to tackle action plan for socioeconomic agenda
The Duterte administration, business leaders and civil society groups intend to forge an action plan on how best to implement the 10-point socioeconomic agenda as a way of fostering inclusive growth and reducing poverty.
“The Department of Finance (DOF) is holding a Philippine Development Forum in Davao City on November 8 and 9, and I would like to invite all these groups to participate in the forum because they can air their concerns and we can discuss the future direction of our country,” Finance Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez III said in a statement on Monday.
Expected to attend the two-day forum are executives from the World Bank, the Asian Development bank, and other global financial institutions. Leaders of civil society groups and representatives of foreign governments were also invited.
According to the finance department, the forum will focus on five priority areas:
- Macroeconomic and fiscal policies
- Infrastructure and competitiveness
- Rural development
- Human capital development
- Mindanao development
“The inputs from the PDF participants will be incorporated in a plan of action under the Philippine Development Plan for 2017 to 2022, which the National Economic and Development Authority is now crafting,” the department said. — Jon Viktor Cabuenas/VDS, GMA News
