The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines on Tuesday announced that the Luzon grid will be placed on yellow and red alerts.

The yellow alert will be from 9 to 10 a.m. and again from 4 to 10 p.m.

The red alert, on the other hand, will be effective from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The NGCP said the available capacity of the Luzon grid is 10,576MW while the peak demand is at 10,536MW.

In a separate statement, the Department of Energy said the following plants were affected by the earthquake:

  • GN Power Unit 1 and 2 - 690 MW
  • SCPC Units 1 to 4 - 600 MW

The NGCP also reported that the Mexico-San Simon 69 kV line is presently undergoing repairs.

"PELCO II has reported the partial restoration within its service area with subsequent re-energization subject to the rehabilitation efforts of the NGCP on the distribution lines leading to PELCO II," according to the DOE. —With Ted Cordero/KG, GMA News
