Select government-owned and -controlled corporations (GOCCs) which have previously been infamously connected with high salaries and bonuses have supposedly "stepped up" and "yielded results," President Rodrigo Duterte said Monday.

"Institutions that are the stewards of our resources and agents of development have long been a major source of public frustration," Duterte said during his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) before a joint session of Congress.

"Drastic reforms within these agencies have yielded results," he said in his speech at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City.

This comes as revenues from GOCCs came in at over P61 billion as of July 2019, with the majority coming from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR).

"Our government-owned and -controlled corporations infamous for high salaries and bonuses being paid for the executives and employees have started to shape up," said Duterte.

Citing the latest information, the chief executive said that 32% of revenues or P16 billion as of July were accounted for by PAGCOR.

"My salute to (PAGCOR chief) Andrea Domingo. Magpasugal ka pa nang marami," said Duterte. — RSJ, GMA News
