Ill-timed oversupply drives vegetable prices in Benguet down

Prices of vegetables from Benguet have dropped as farmers harvested their crops prematurely due to continuous rains in the province.

GMA News stringer Dave Leproso reported on “Unang Balita” that cabbage and other vegetables the province produces had to be harvested earlier than expected, resulting in market glut that drives prices down.

As farmers scramble to save their crops, vegetable supply in markets overflow, pushing prices down to as low as P10 to P12 per kilo.

In Bontoc Mountain Province, also in the Cordillera Autonomous Region, thick fog, accompanied with heavy rains and extreme cold weather trouble residents, Ferdinand Castañeda reported. —LBG, GMA News
