BOC collection up 13% in September 2019

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) collected P59.209 billion in September, up by 13% on the back of higher duties collected in light of the recently-enacted tax reform measures.

Data released by the BOC's Statistical Analysis Division (SAD) showed Thursday that the agency's collection last month was P6.789 billion higher that the P52.42-billion collected in the same period last year.

"The growth in revenue collection last month was due to increase in the volume of importation, higher collection as a result of the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law, Rice Tariffication law and the National Food Authority tax expenditure collection," the BOC said.

The Customs noted that its 17 collection districts also contributed to the revenue growth in September.

It noted that nine districts have exceeded their targets last month.

The performing ports are the Ports of Limay, Cagayan de Oro and Subic with a total collections of P5.065 billion, P3.197 billion and P3.107 billion, respectively.

Other ports that were able to surpass revenue goals are the Ports of San Fernando, La Union with P333.25 million, Iloilo with P257.38 million, Tacloban with P145 million, Surigao with P4 million, Zamboanga with P26.81 million, and Aparri iwth P13.53 million.

The Ports of Batangas and the Manila International Container Port, meanwhile, missed their targets in September.

The two ports, however, collected the highest revenues with P15.514 billion and P14.634 billion, respectively.

Around  P5.667 billion revenue was collected in the Port of Manila, P3.745 billion in NAIA, P2.598 billion in Cebu, P1.997 billion in Davao, P13.56 million in Legaspi, and P187.83 million in Clark. —LDF, GMA News
