P5,000 cash aid given to more than 200,000 workers – DOLE

The government’s one-time P5,000 financial assistance for those affected by the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine had been given to more than 200,000 workers, a top official of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said Friday.

Citing the DOLE’s latest data, Labor Assistant Secretary Dominique Tutay told GMA News Online that the cash aid has been released to more than 6,000 establishments.

“As of today, [nasa] 6,029 establishments covering 200,555 workers,” Tutay said.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III earlier said the DOLE started the release of the P5,000 financial assistance on March 20, 2020.

All employees, regardless of employment status are covered by the financial assistance, if they are unable to work due to the community quarantine.

Workers who can avail of the P5,000 one-time assistance would be based on the payroll list submitted to the DOLE by their employers. — DVM, GMA News
