New Clark Airport terminal building to open before end-2020 -BCDA

The new passenger terminal building (PTB) at the Clark International Airport is on track to open by the end of the year and will be fully operational by January next year, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) announced Sunday.

In an emailed statement, the BCDA said the building shell is 99.52% complete, set to triple the airport's annual passenger capacity to 12 million from the present 4 million.

"We are excited to see this project open in five months," said Presidential Adviser for Flagship Programs and Programs Vivencio Dizon, who also sits as the president and chief executive officer of the BCDA.

"Clark’s new and modern terminal will not only enhance connectivity and improve passenger experience, it will also further boost economic growth in the region," he added.

The development, undertaken as a hybrid public-private partnership (PPP) project, was bagged by the Megawide GMR Construction Joint Venture Inc. (MGCJV).

The group counts as members Megawide Construction Corp., GMR Infrastructure (Singapore) Pte. Limited, and GME Holdings Overseas (Singapore) Pte. Limited.

The engineering, procurement, and construction contract for the project was signed on January 29, 2018, and involves the construction of a new 82,600-square meter PTB. — DVM, GMA News
