Government shelves 8 infrastructure projects

Eight infrastructure projects have been shelved as they undergo their respective feasibility studies, presidential adviser on flagship programs and projects Vivencio "Vince" Dizon announced Thursday.

In a virtual briefing, Dizon said the government is prioritizing infrastructure projects that are already "shovel ready" moving forward.

"There were eight [projects] that were dropped for now because they are still ongoing feasibility study and we want projects that are shovel ready, that are already at the advanced stages at the very least of government approval," he said.

The projects that have been shelved are the following:

• Bataan-Cavite Link Bridge
• Dalton Pass East Alignment
• New Zamboanga International Airport
• New Dumaguete Airport
• Panay River Basin Integrated Development
• Kabulnan Multipurpose Irrigation and Power project
• Kanan Dam project
• Guimaras to Negros portion of the Panay-Guimaras-Negros Bridge

In the same briefing, Dizon said 13 flagship infrastructure projects have been added to the pipeline:

• LTO Central Command Center
• Motor Vehicle Recognition and Enhancement System
• National Broadband Program
• ICT Capacity Development and Management Program
• Water District Development Sector Projects
• National Irrigation Sector Rehabilitation and Improvement Project
• Balog-Balog Multipurpose Project Phase II
• Jalaur River Multipurpose Project
• Lower Agno River Irrigation System
• Metro Manila Logistics Network
• NLEX Harbor Link Extension to Anda Circle
• General Santos Airport
• Virology Science and Technology Institute of the Philippines
