DOE: LPG, kerosene prices frozen in Rolly ‘state of calamity’ areas
The Department of Energy (DOE) on Tuesday said a 15-day price freeze on kerosene and household liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is being implemented in areas which declared a state of calamity.
“As far as price freeze is concerned, it’s covers 15 days [of] price freeze... hindi pwedeng magtaas pero pwedeng babaan ang presyo for kerosene and household LPG only,” Energy Undersecretary Felix William Fuentebella said at a Palace briefing on Tuesday.
“‘Yan po ang ini-implement natin for 15 days upon the declaration of state of calamity,” Fuentebella said.
According to an advisory from the Department of Energy, the price freeze for LPG and kerosene is in effect in the province of Cavite from November 1 to 15 and in Camarines Sur from November 2 to 16.
Under the Republic Act 7581 or the Price Act, a “price freeze" should be enforced on basic energy products being sold in the areas which declared a state of calamity.
Any person who violates a “price freeze” shall suffer the penalty of imprisonment for a period of one year to 10 years or a fine ranging between P5,000 and P1,000,000 or both depending on the court’s discretion.—AOL, GMA News
