DITO hits 2 million subscribers


Telecommunications duopoly challenger DITO Telecommunity Corp. said Wednesday it hit two million subscribers as of August 1, five months since the telco’s commercial launch.

“We in DITO are pleased to announce that as of the first of August, two-million Filipinos have joined our fast growing telecommunity,” DITO chief administrative officer Adel Tamano said in a statement.

“If you may recall, DITO hit its one-millionth subscriber mark mid-June of this year as well, and these two milestones have inspired us to remain steadfast in our goal of building strong communities with even stronger connectivity in the years to come,” he said.

DITO also announced it is now present in 10 more areas as of July 30, namely:

  •     General Trias, Cavite
  •     Trece Martirez, Cavite
  •     San Pablo City, Laguna
  •     Alaminos, Laguna
  •     Iloilo City, Iloilo
  •     Binalbagan, Negros Occidental
  •     Villanueva, Misamis Oriental
  •     Naawan, Misamis Oriental
  •     Rosario, Agusan Del Sur
  •     San Francisco, Agusan del Sur

By August 6, the third telco said its mobile network services will be available in 17 more areas, namely:

  •     Taal, Batangas
  •     San Luis, Batangas
  •     Balayan, Batangas
  •     Calaca, Batangas
  •     Tanza, Cavite
  •     Oton, Iloilo
  •     Daanbantayan, Cebu
  •     Jasaan, Misamis Oriental
  •     City of EL Salvador, Misamis Oriental
  •     Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental
  •     Opol, Misamis Oriental
  •     Quezon, Bukidnon
  •     City of Valencia, Bukidnon
  •     Island City of Samal, Davao Del Norte
  •     Hagonoy, Davao Del Sur
  •     Polomolok, South Cotabato
  •     Monkayo, Compostela Valley

With the announced additional areas, DITO has grown its network coverage from 15 pilot areas in March to 185.

Aside from expanding its coverage in various areas nationwide, Tamano said DITO also continues to make its products and services accessible to more Filipinos by opening new sales channels and partnering with more retailers.

Currently, DITO has 30,000 sales touchpoints all over the Philippines and is available for purchase and top up via the DITO E-shop, DITO App, Shopee, and Lazada.—AOL, GMA News
