The Department of Science and Technology on Saturday said 507 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) benefited and 3,000 workers were employed due to the agency's Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (DOST-SETUP) in 2021.

Interviewed at the Laging Handa briefing, Undersecretary Sancho Mabborang said the businesses that benefited included agriculture, food processing, metals engineering, health and pharmaceuticals, house decors, and furniture sectors.

Mabborang said about 100,000 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have benefited from the SETUP program since 2002. The program also generated 293,000 jobs.
