The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) logged P265 million in sales on January 16, 2024, tits highest total one-day sales in five years.

"The amount was the highest recorded one-day sales in over five years or since October 14, 2018, when the prize pot hit P1.18 billion," the PCSO said in a press statement.

The agency credited its "Handog Pakabog" Christmas draws on December 16 for greatly contributing  to the sales increase.

The PCSO raised the minimum guaranteed prize of the Grand Lotto 6/55, the UltraLotto 6/58, and, later on, SuperLotto 6/49 to P500 million each, and the jackpot prize of Lotto 6/42 and Mega Lotto 6/45 to P100 million each towards the end of 2023.

On Tuesday night, a lone winner bagged the Super Lotto 6/49 jackpot, which had reached P640,654,817.60 with the combination 26-33-14-48-06-42.

On December 29, a government employee from Albay won the P571-million jackpot in the Ultra Lotto 6/58 draw.

The Grand Lotto 6/55, worth over P680 million as of January 15, has yet to be won.

The PCSO also breached P1 billion in sales for two weeks from November 1 to 14, 2023, as the ticket sales reached P104.87 million on November 14 alone.

This was the highest daily sales logged since the PCSO migrated to the Philippine Lottery System (PLS) on October 1, 2023, the agency said.

PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles reiterated that the huge sales would not have been possible without Filipinos’ enduring trust and loyalty.

He thanked and encouraged everyone to continue supporting PCSO-sanctioned games, the sales of which are being used to fund the government’s various charitable programs. — Sherylin Untalan/BM, GMA Integrated News
