Marcos declares May as ease of doing business month

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. has declared the month of May of every year as ease of doing business (EODB) month, with the aim of establishing a more business-friendly environment.

In Proclamation No. 818, Marcos directed the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) to lead the yearly observance of the EODB Month and identify the programs, activities, and projects related to the celebration.

The proclamation also directed all agencies and instrumentalities of the national government covered by Republic Act No. 9485, or the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007 as amended, including government-owned or -controlled corporations (GOCCs) and local government units (LGUs) to coordinate with ARTA for the effective implementation of all programs and activities relative to the EODB Month celebration.

It further encourages non-government organizations (NGOs) and the private sector to actively participate and support ARTA in implementing all EODB initiatives.

The Marcos administration has remained committed to strengthening the whole-of-government approach in the delivery of key services, and increasing awareness in creating a more business-friendly environment, driving economic development, and improving bureaucratic efficiency. —Anna Felicia Bajo/LDF, GMA Integrated News
