P1.38 million worth of smuggled cigarettes seized in Gingoog, Misamis Oriental

Authorities seized over P1.38 million worth of smuggled cigarettes in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental, the PNP Police Regional Office 10 said Thursday.

The cigarettes were confiscated during a checkpoint operation in Purok 3, Barangay Binakalan around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Authorities flagged down a white van truck with a 53-year-old driver and a 19-year-old passenger.

A total of 1,731 reams of cigarettes were seized from the vehicle.

All confiscated items, including the vehicle, will be turned over to the Bureau of Customs in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/BM, GMA Integrated News
