Fuel price rollback up to P2 per liter expected next week
Motorists could look forward to a sigh of relief next week after facing a big-time increase in petroleum pump prices.
In its fuel forecast, Unioil said that fuel prices are expected to go down for the July 1 to 7, 2025 period.
The estimated downward price adjustments are as follows:
- Diesel - P1.70 to P2.00 per liter
- Gasoline - P1.30 to P1.50 per liter
Jetti Petroleum, likewise, said that the per-liter prices of diesel may be slashed by P1.90 to P2.10, while gasoline may be reduced by P1.50 to P1.70 per liter.
Department of Energy-Oil Industry Management Bureau Assistant Director Rodela Romero earlier attributed the anticipated fuel price rollback next week to the announcement by President Donald Trump of a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, which calmed down global crude oil prices.
For this week, fuel retailers have agreed to implement the big-time hike in petroleum prices in two tranches to ease the burden on motorists.
Major petroleum firms hiked the prices per liter of gasoline by P1.75, diesel by P2.60, and kerosene by P2.40, effective 6 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
The same price hikes were implemented at 6 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, reflecting the second tranche of adjustments. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
