Over P1/liter rollback in diesel, kerosene expected next week
Motorists should expect a sigh of relief as pump prices are expected to roll back in the coming week.
Citing international petroleum trading in the past four days, Department of Energy-Oil Industry Management Bureau (DOE-OIMB) Assistant Director Rodela Romero said the following are the estimated adjustments in fuel prices next week:
- Gasoline - rollback of more or less P0.25 per liter
- Diesel - rollback of more or less P1.25 per liter
- Kerosene - rollback of more or less P1.20 per liter
“Final adjustments will be determined after today’s trading,” Romero said.
The Energy official cited the following relevant developments that affected oil supply and prices:
- Rising OPEC+ supply (547,000 barrels per day from September) and uncertainty surrounding US tariff policy;
- Confusion over potential US tariffs on buyers of Russian oil and despite largely supportive US inventory data
- Oil companies announce official price adjustments every Monday, to be implemented on the following day.
This week, Petron Corp., Seaoil Philippines Corp., and Shell Pilipinas Corp. hiked the prices per liter of gasoline by P1.90, diesel by P1.20, and kerosene by P1.00.
Cleanfuel and Petro Gazz implemented the same changes, excluding kerosene which they do not carry.
Chevron Philippines Inc. (Caltex) also increased prices per liter of gasoline by P1.30, diesel by P0.90, and kerosene by P0.75.
The adjustments took effect at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, for all the firms except for Cleanfuel which will adjust prices at 4:01 p.m. the same day. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
