Marcos inaugurates improved fish port complex in Iloilo

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. on Wednesday led the inauguration of the rehabilitated Philippine Fisheries Development Authority – Iloilo Fish Port Complex (PFDA-IFPC) in Barangay Tanza-Baybay, Iloilo City.

The port’s rehabilitation was finished in March 2025, featuring modern facilities and increased capacity to better serve its clients and stakeholders.

Marcos said this would benefit more or less 1,500 fisherfolk.

(It's a major development because of this – with this facility change, we can do a lot of things that we couldn't do before, like putting in cold storage.)

(Because we know that's the most important thing, so that your catch won't spoil and will remain fresh when it reaches far destinations and its value will remain high.)

The complex is equipped with a 390-kilowatt peak (kWp) Solar Photovoltaic (PV) system with 1,152 of 370-watt PV solar panel modules mounted on key structures, including the new market hall, refrigeration building, cold storage facility, commercial building, public toilet, and administration building.

The said project not only cuts electricity costs and improves operational efficiency but also aligns with the administration's call for sustainable and climate-resilient fish ports by reducing the facility’s carbon footprint. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
