Century Pacific to invest $45-M for coconut processing facility in South Cotabato
Listed food manufacturer Century Pacific Food Inc. (CNPF), through its wholly-owned subsidiary Coco Harvest Inc., is set to invest $45 million to acquire and upgrade a coconut processing facility in Tupi, South Cotabato.
The plant currently produces high-value coconut products such as coconut cream, coconut milk, virgin coconut oil, and coconut water concentrate, with planned enhancements to add new product lines and expand its capabilities to serve both domestic and export markets.
“By expanding our capacity in coconuts, we not only enhance our competitiveness in the global coconut industry but also create meaningful economic opportunities for local communities in Mindanao,” CNPF vice president and general manager Noel Tempongko Jr. said in a regulatory filing.
“The additional capacity will allow us to innovate and serve the market with more high-quality, better-for-you coconut products, supporting our mission to deliver affordable nutrition to our consumers,” he added.
The latest acquisition will complement CNPF’s processing hubs in General Santos City and Misamis Occidental.
This comes as CNPF entered the coconut category in 2012, and launched its branded coconut line in 2019. It also renewed a P14-billion five-year contract with The Vita Coco Company Inc. starting 2026.
CNPF chief financial officer Chad Manapat in August said the company is aiming to deliver high single to low double digit growth in 2025, following the 7% increase in its net income for the first half of the year. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
